C.R.O.C is a community advocacy group aimed at generating public awareness of Saltwater and Freshwater crocodile
conservation issues.
The group consists of multi-stakeholders across the community with an interest in evolving the conversation of crocodile management to a human management concern.
The group will utilise social media, industry events and marketing materials to educate on the issues concerning Queensland crocodiles and their evolving management plan.
Our first success story will
be the introduction of a new legislation for crocodiles named ‘Reckless Use of Crocodile Habitat’ to minimise human/croc conflict. 100% volunteer run and operated.
C.R.O.C was developed out of the requirement for crocodiles to receive community representation, in a similar way to a previous group
North Queensland Croc Protection Society.
The group members of C.R.O.C were instrumental in the advocacy of a legislation amendment under the Nature Conservation Act to introduce “Reckless Use of Estuarine Crocodile Habitat” in 2023, following a
spate of incidents involving human/crocodile conflicts where human error was involved.
The founding members bring together a range of skillsets from varied backgrounds in conservation, media and wildlife management.
